RE: OMA Request for Review 2017 PAC 49875

Dear Mrs. Bartelt,
In regard to Mr. Tedfords response on behalf of the city of Newton dated 10/31/17 I would like to make the
following comments:

The reasons that the city had for purchasing the property are totally irrelevant in this review, they should have
been presented at a council meeting prior to purchasing the property as 5 ILCS 120/ 2(e) requires.

Mr. Tedford’s claim that final action has not been taken on the purchase is laughable, if a signed purchase
contract and delivered payment is not proof that final action has in fact already been taken then what would be?
The fact that even if the vote on 11/7/17 were to fail the city of Newton would still own the property points out
what a sham this after the fact vote is.

If this type of conduct is allowed to stand it completely undermines the idea of open and honest government,
something that is already severely lacking .
