7 new property taxes are buried in the 307 additional pages added to city
code via ordinance 15-12 “An ordinance adopting a code of ordinances
for the city of Newton Illinois.”
36-1-2 Police Tax
36-1-3 Audit Tax
36-1-4 F.I.C.A. Tax
36-1-5 General Liability Tax
36-1-6 Workmens Comp Tax
36-1-7 Public Parks Tax
36-1-8 Street And Bridge Tax
I bet the Mayor was absolutely drooling over all these new taxes. Prior to
these new taxes Newton's property tax rate was already 2 times that of
other nearby towns
I am not sure why they felt the need to add these taxes to the new city
code as they were already available.
And never forget the Hidden Taxes.
